While I’m not exactly sure what happened, I’m pretty sure it will wind up being my fault.
For this is NOT a beautiful picture of the cherry blossoms of Jinhae – it’s the redbud tree in my backyard.
Why…you ask?
We didn’t make it to Jinhae.
I’ve retraced my steps over & over…but it just doesn’t make sense.
We got up at 4:30am…we got dressed…we even had fresh, hot muffins out of the oven to eat on the bus ride out.
We left the house on time.
We got on base 10 minutes till 6am – when the bus was supposed to be leaving.
We parked.
We looked for the bus.
It wasn’t in front of the CAC; it wasn’t in front of the USO bus stop.
It wasn’t anywhere we drove around to – there wasn’t even any others standing around looking for the bus.
There was nothing at all….but us.
$50 bucks a piece for a trip that didn’t materialize.
So here’s a fun tip: When orchestrating a group outing, and given that you’ve already collected their cell phone numbers at the time of ticket purchase, it would be great to either a) call each ticket group to say ‘We’ve made a change’ or ‘Reconfirming you’re going’ or b) provide a point of contact &Â number for ticket holders to call should anything out of the ordinary arise.
Because it was a weekend & so early in the morning, we couldn’t even call the office number to find out what had happened.
So I’ll call tomorrow & see about getting our money back.

Sorry about the trip. Almost as bad as going to NYC to se The Jersey Boys and finding out the show started at 7:00 instead of 8:00 @$130.00 each. As you say–fudge. No mention of Mark Chestnut–were you able to go?
What a bummer!!! And man, I had SO MANY of those experiences when living in Italy. The most memorable being the day I waited in the Florence train station for 6 hours to get to Sicily because the attendant kept saying I was on the “next train” when what he meant was I was on the next CAR of the 3+ trains I let ride away without me. Not so fun in the moment but certainly a good story afterwards.
Oh, Man! I hate that!! I know you were so looking forward to that trip. That sounds like something that would happen to me. As Poppy would say, “You had to hurry up and wait!” I can’t wait to hear how they explained this one! Let’s see, “Oh, that was the wrong time zone!” Sorry, Jenn!
