Uuuugggghhhhh!!!!!!

(There…that’s out of the way now…thanks for letting me vent.)

I got an answer back from PayPal about Maggie Moo’s hijacked email address….ready for this?

“Hi Jennifer, if the email address you are trying to register is already registered to a PayPal account, you will receive an error message. For security reasons, PayPal allows an email address to be active on only one account at a time.”

“In some instances, email providers will recycle email addresses, which means at some point the email address was previously issued to another member of the internet provider. Please contact your internet service provider to confirm this email address has been recycled. If the previous owner of your email address established a PayPal account using this email address and has not updated or removed the old email address information, you will be unable to register this email address to your PayPal account.

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We value what you have to say, and we know situations like this can be difficult. If you have more questions, visit our Help Center by clicking “Help” in the top right corner of any PayPal page.

Sincerely,

PayPal Resolution Services”

Huh….really?!

You mean there’s someone else out there who had the email address maggiemoo[at]ourjennericlife.com before me?

Wow – what a very strange, yet oddly coincidental happenstance!

Hmm…what are the odds….[sighs heavily]

Well, if PayPal says that’s what’s going on, then OBVIOUSLY that must be what’s going on.

I mean, c’mon…I’m just a small little female business owner who obviously doesn’t understand anything about how the big bad, worldwide web works.

Pffttthh…What could I have been thinking?

So who really cares if Mr. John Smith of PO Box 8561 in NY, NY racks-up $5,000 or more in fraudulent charges….I mean it’s in HIS name, right?

WRONG!

When PayPal finally wakes up & discovers Mr. Smith of New York doesn’t really exist, they’ll come back to the email address owner…

Oh…what’s that?…I’M the email address owner?…

But you told me that I wasn’t the REAL owner…how could I possibly be the real owner, if you say I’m not?

Yes, yes…it is wildly coincidental that I just happen to have a dog named Maggie Moo who I just happened to have given an email address to from our domain of ourjennericlife.

What are the odds…

[sighs heavily]

Nevermind the fact that had they actually bothered to look up the WHOIS data on my domain, they’d see that it’s only ever been registered once.

Why yes…that would mean that no one else has EVER owned ‘ourjennericlife’.

Hmm…how very interesting.

I guess PayPal will to go back to the drawing board on how to reply next.

You poor thing! I had a similarly frustrating situation occur with Ebay about three years ago. It was never resolved and initially I was determined I would pursue it till they gave me a realistic explanation, but they wore me down in the end and I just gave up and swore off Ebay instead.

Would you like Paypal’s toll-free # so you can resolve this? I have it (or at least it WAS good at one time)…if you’d like it, email me and its yours. Poor Maggie…..I’d love to see her take a bite out of the lowlife’s nether regions for doing this! Good luck!

So What Do You Think?
