After electroshock therapy
 wrote this at 7:54 pm

While I’m still not ready to write about it, I wanted thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts & hugs over my black dog.

It’s just too painful right now for me to share with you how the discovery came about.

But I will…Just bear with me.

[images of my trip up to Seoul]

So if you’ve never had a lumbar puncture before, I think I’ve figured out how best to describe it.

It’s like getting kicked by a horse after electroshock therapy.

And while I’ve never had electroshock therapy, I have been kicked by a horse…and that part I can tell you is dead on.

And because I’ve been around horses before…and have a f ew war wounds from my time with them…it made the process that much more difficult & painful.

(I got thrown once pretty good & landed smack on my tail bone.)

It still gives me grief from time to time, but Wednesday it gave the doctor grief.

The scar tissue from the injury made it difficult for him to find the sweet spot of my spine.

After 20 attempts – 20 pricks & prods – 20 jolts, I lost count.

And while I was hanging on pretty well, the doctor wasn’t.

With each missed attempt it was, “Sorry…Sorry…So sorry about that…Sorry.”

Until finally he just couldn’t bear to torture me anymore & said he would stop, call it quits for the day & schedule a different type of procedure to get to my spinal fluid.

But he gave it one last attempt & finally it worked.

The fluid was collected & sent off to the lab. So I should know more in about two weeks.

In the meantime, I’m trying to rest-up as much as possible.

Bless your heart!!!! I can’t imagine enduring all that! You win the prize….you are indeed the toughest woman I know!!! I bow to you, Oh Great One!! But, at least the final attempt was successful, and you don’t have to endure something else. I hurt just thinking about it. You deserve a long rest. Our prayers are continuing for you and Eric. Love you both very much.

Bless you, Jen. That just sucks the breath out of me to hear what you went through. Although, I shouldn’t be surprised. Always knew you were a horse’s rear! ;)

Oh wow … that sucks! I would tell you that you deserve a great big glass of wine or beer or something, but you don’t drink. So go indulge in some chocolate. You’ve earned it.

    XOXO, me

Hey, did you tell the dr. you weren’t there to be his practice dummy and weren’t real impressed with his version of acupuncture?? or “My dad may have been an old so-and-so (sew-and-sew), but it doesn’t make me a pin cushion!” (Sorry, it’s Friday afternoon after a long week with half crazy middle school kids, and I’m a little carzy myself.) Woo-Whoo! Gonna enjoy my weekend! Hope you gets lots of rest. Love you.
