BUTTERMILK!

LOW FAT EVEN!

Do you realize I’ve not had access to real, honest-to-God buttermilk in…

[looking down & left]

463 DAYS?!?!

That’s over a year of NO buttermilk pancakes, NO decent cornbread, NO fried chicken!

Ohhh….you just have no idea how good yall have it back home.

Buttermilk!

Honest to God Buttermilk!

AT HUMPHREYS EVEN!

Can you believe it!?!

I KNOW!

True, true…it’s one solid frozen block of liquid gold – but buttermilk, Baby!

Do you think the person back home ordering our food has finally realized that there are actually American women in Korea?

[sudden realization]

Ooh….Did Osan get any?…Did Yongsan?….

I have no clue. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.

I don’t want them pillaging our meager 6 quarts.

I wonder how we got so lucky to get it?

Ahhh…..

That would be how.

[check the expiration date]

    Hey, maybe that’s July 2011 and not July 11 2010 ….
I don’t think I should attempt to send you milk products through the mail

That sucks for you … Sorry
    XOXO

dang – Way back when we lived in Texas I can’t count the number of buttermilk pies I made in summer, but not a one since moving to Korea.

I haven’t seen buttermilk in our Commissary, but in order to prove your theory … I will check tomorrow. :)

We are coming down to Humphreys this week to take the kids to the waterpark before school starts next Monday (Yippee!! School starts next Monday) and I heard that its best to get off at the front gate and just walk to the waterpark. Do you know if this is true?

So far this is what I’ve noticed is missing in Yongsan:

Coke in the small 12 oz bottles, or the bigger 16 oz bottles or the biggest 20 oz bottles. They only have coke in the can here or in a 1.5 ml bottle. Too big for my purse and for obvious reasons, cans don’t work in a purse. :)

Pimento cheese spread in a jar. I know I’m weird, but its one of my favorite snacks and I can’t find it anyplace. Do you guys have it down there?

Pepperidge Farm non-cooktop stuffing mix. Maybe its just a seasonal item? We love stuffing and I make it with chicken all the time. I don’t like the instant cooktop type. Do you know what I’m talking about? It’s in the blue bags. Hopefully I’ll start seeing it soon. If they have Halloween candy in the Commissary right now …. Thanksgiving stuff can’t be too far behind.

Things we discovered that we love:

The Korean type Ramen in the bowl. So yummy!

Grilled squid from the street vendors on Itaewon. It’s a little hard to have them looking at you when you are chomping their legs off, but man … they are so good!

Fake mink blankets. The first thing that the kids and I bought when we got here. They are so warm and cheap. I’m sending them to everyone back home for Christmas. :)

So What Do You Think?
