And her chocolate hospitality

[but first the back story]

It’s one of those things that I knew might happen if I started a blog about Army life in Korea….that an Army wife looking for information on life in Korea might actually stumble on it.

That there might be an Army wife or two out there who are struggling with the decision of what to do now that their husbands have orders for Korea.

Will they go with him? Will they stay at home? What about our kids? What about our dog?

Lots of questions. Lots of uncertainty. Lots of fears.

How do I know?…Because I went through the exact same struggle – minus the kid thing.

A month ago I was contacted by Cynthia – an Army wife who was about to PCS to Camp Humphreys with her husband.

We’ve exchanged emails back & forth…she’s commented to a couple of my rambling posts…and now she’s here in Korea.

And today she brought me birthday cake!

Look Moo!…She even brought birthday candles!

cake-3

Ok ready?…You have to sing Happy Birthday to me.

cake-4

‘Awww…c’mon, do I have to? Can’t you just make a wish & blow out the candle so we can eat it now? It looks yummy!’

Fine.

[wooosh]

cake-5

‘What’d you wish for, mom?’

That you knew how to sing Happy Birthday.

cake-6

‘Oh…well, can I have a bite now?’

Umm, yeah…that would be a no. You don’t like chocolate.

cake-7

‘I don’t?….Are you sure?’

Yes, I’m sure – and no, you can’t have any because it’s mine….mine!….MINE, I say!!!

cake-8

Every last delictible chocolate flavored morsel…

MINE!

Every soft, delicate crumb…

MINE!

cake-9

And yes, even the creamy whipped frosting on the candle!

(Hey, ain’t no shame in sucking the icing off a candle – at least not when only the dog can see you.)
