A few days ago on the walk with Moo we discovered these.
Lantern after lantern strung from one end of the road all the way to the other.

At first I wasn’t sure what they were for…maybe party lights left-over from some weekend get-together.
But as I looked closer at them I knew.

They’re lanterns to help celebrate Buddha’s birthday this month.
And they lead all the way down to our little neighborhood temple.

Lanterns are a symbol of enlightenment in Buddhism & are used in prayer requests.
And next weekend Seoul is having a 3-day festival to celebrate.
People can make their own paper lanterns to carry in their closing parade, there will be all kinds of stage performances & street entertainers.
And I desperately want to go – but it would appear Eric will be gone that weekend.

So the question becomes do I find a battle buddy to go with me? Or do I trek it solo?
Or could you possibly hop a flight to Incheon next weekend to go with me?
[said wistfully]
I’d much rather go & appreciate it with someone.

Maybe someone else around there has the same problem….hubby going to be away that same weekend. I would team up with another wife and GO…but I wouldn’t go alone. Maybe you’ll find SEVERAL wives in the same boat…..oh how fun! A girls’ night (day) out. LOL
Go!! It’ll be more fun then sitting at home regretting not going at all. And Val has a good point about finding someone to go with.
Go with another wife or alone but go…it looks and sounds too interesting to turn down!
Definitely go. Whether you choose to go alone or with others that’s up to you.
If it were me, I would call you and say ” Jenn, let’s make lanterns and go hang out, you drive cause I’m drinking ; ) ”
But since I’m not able to go with you, if it were me, I would find some folks to go with and make it an adventure.
I have a challenge for you: if you’re up for it …. (unless it’s offensive)
I know how extremely creative you are so, When you make your Lantern, in addition to the Budda you should add any or all of the following three (hidden or out in the open)
* Texas (star, flag, outline, or Texas)
* Army related item
* Sitting Boo
Wish I could go with you …
XOXO
You’ve gotta find a running buddy! How else are the rest of us stuck in the USA going to get to enjoy it?? We depend on your photos to bring the world to us!! There ought to be some job for you over there like the base’s “Goodwill Ambassador and Preventor of Cultural Shock” person or something like that! You know what I mean…Do your magic and put the right combination of words together. You definitely have a talent in that area.
I want to go with you! I wish we were there already. This waiting is killing me.
Seriously though – it really sounds like fun. You’ve got to go!
you followed the lanterns?! I never thought to do that. Why didn’t I think to do that?
