Mission Impossible, Improbable or Impassable
jennifer wrote this at 7:27 pm

snow

Around 7am this morning, it started to snow again.

We still had a couple of inches from the last go round, but now it started hard & heavy.

The base has a whole color code system to know whether or not the roads are passable, who’s allowed on them & if the base is even open at all.

So as I sat making my last minute commissary list before the holiday, Eric checked the roads.

AMBER.

Amber means the gates are open, only military vehicles on essential business can be driven & all of us with personal vehicles are advised to use caution.

TRANSLATION: Eric still had to go into work today.

So as it started coming down harder & harder I decided Eric would have to make the commissary run on his way home.

There was just too much of a chance that the roads would get worse by the time I would have the car again.

So I sent him off with a kiss & a list…and hoped for the best.

But before I tell you how his mission near-impossible went, here’s my question for you…

Have you ever sent your husband / boyfriend / significant other to the grocery store with a list of things to pick up?

And if so, how’d they do?

When I had caesarian with my first daughter, I sent him. He came back with almost everything except ‘tomatoes’ and tried to tell me that a major grocery store didn’t have any. This man will not ask under any circumstances!
    So, how’d he do?

My guy is pretty good and does most of the shopping with me. Unless it’s for something “girlie” like hair products or anything beyond q-tips then I just hope for the best.

Bwha hahahahaha. He got…..er….close to what I asked for. If he couldn’t find an item in a couple glances, then it was skipped with the explanation of “they were out of it”. My son is actually much better at shopping, especially if I write down SPECIFICALLY what I want….brand name, size of package, etc. Sometimes I have to go so far as a description of the container and what color it is. My dad always did the shopping for the family as I was growing up so I thought ALL men did this. My mom made out the list, he went to the store. Her only complaint was that if he found a sale on something he knew we used, he would get it. I think that’s a GOOD thing myself. I think men get better at shopping with practice but I also think that a lot of them screw it up on purpose because they don’t want to be the one doing the shopping….and I can’t blame them. I hate to grocery shop!

  4. We were married long before cell phones. Now it’s much easier to send him because he can call if he has questions. On the few rare occasions I have sent him to the store it’s with a VERY detailed list including the brand names, colors on the packaging, approximate weight, etc. On every occasion he brought home exactly what I needed PLUS a few extras he thought we needed. Totally ok though, I just consider them his “tip”.

It’s Jeanne Robertson on why you should never send your husband to the grocery store. Great “Southern” humor!

So What Do You Think?
